Making sure that you are presenting yourself in a way that is beneficial to your career is something athletes often forget about. Here are some things you can do to manage your online image.
It might be a good idea to have multiple social media accounts - one for personal use for communicating with friends and family, and one for the public. Keep your public profile for posting things related to your athletic performance and image
Try to post at least 2-3 times per week. Especially in today’s world, maintaining an active online presence is something desirable for schools who are looking for athletes with a certain image
This may be obvious, but try not to be involved in drama that can often happen online. On your public accounts, be very critical of the messaging that you put on, especially when commenting on people’s posts Hopefully these tips will help you better understand how to manage and set up your online presence as an athlete. Remember: not everyone has to do this! However, if you use social media, making sure that your presence reflects who you are in a positive light will be beneficial to you for your career.
